It is required for all investigators to read at least one book on Ghost Hunting to get an idea what to expect and basically what to do. Just watching ghost shows on TV isn't going to cut it.

Picture Yourself Ghost Hunting by Christopher Balzano
This is THE book I recommend for both new investigators and seasoned investigators as well. I highly recommend everyone getting a copy. It's down to earth, easy to read, and it keeps your attention. There's also a 90 minute disk which shows 3 different 30 minute investigations. If you are an avid reader of ghost hunting books as I am, you'll find this one refreshing as Christopher is the "average Joe" investigator and writes as such. I was TOTALLY IMPRESSED!!!!

Picture Yourself Capturing Ghosts on Film by Christopher Balzano
This is another winning manual by Christopher. Again a MUST READ book. Has to be the first book on spirit photography that didn't put me to sleep. I highly recommend this book as well.

How to Hunt Ghosts by Joshua P. Warren
My very first book on the subject when I first got into investigating and found to be extremely informative.

The Ghost Hunters Bible by Trent Brandon
Again another informative book in the field of Ghost Hunting.

The Book of Ghosts by Trent Brandon
This book gives a description of the different types of activity which could be encountered during an investigation.

The Ghost Hunter's Guidebook by Troy Taylor
It's informative but don't be suckered into buying any of the "New, Revised and Updated Edition!" Maybe for one or two paragraphs it'll be the same. Buy one book, you've bought them all. Still it's worth buying one copy and reading it as it does have good information.

The Everything Ghost Book by Jason Rich
This book also has good information along with actual cases.

Don't Waste Your Time or Money

Field Guide to Spirit Photography by Dale Kaczmarek
IF you can get through this book, you won't learn anything more than you will in the field or by the above ghost hunter's guidebooks. It's like reading the old VCR set up manual. *yawn*

Ghost Hunting How to Investigate the Paranormal by Loyd Auerbach
This man is WAY to much into poltergeist and dealing with homeowners calling the media. Like that's going to happen with SPRG *haha*. He's so into himself and being a parapsychologist he's forgotten about US. He talks about equipment that costs into the hundreds of dollars and he's even gone so far as suggesting contacting a client's doctor regarding the client's mental state. EXCUSE ME?!!! Don't waste your money. If you're like me you'll just wind up yelling at the book as you're reading it screaming "WHAT?" He needs to get back into the "real" investigations before writing a book on how to investigate the paranormal.
