So you will know a little about what will be involved during an investigation, after contacting the Springfield Paranormal Research Group, I (Roberta Van Huss) would set up a time that's convenient FOR YOU. The investigation on the norm will last about 2 hours; however, there has been times (with your permission) we have stayed a bit longer if a great deal of activity is happening. If there is a location you do not wish us to be or photograph, let us know at the time of the investigation and no matter the reason we WILL honor your wishes. I will have a form for you, the client, to sign giving us permission to photograph, use video, and audio. If permission is given to post findings on our web page, rest assured no names or addresses are disclosed. Any photos of individuals other than investigators will be cropped or blacked out. After the investigation is completed, it will take roughly 7 to 10 days for the investigators to review all evidence, i.e., recordings, video, audio, and photos. In which case, they will forward their findings to me to complete a final report. I will then mail to you a CD with all the evidence as well as a printed report. In the event some of the evidence is questionable and I would like the input of the entire group, then reports may be mailed out after the meeting date posted on the "meeting" page. The number of investigators present will be determined by the size of the location. If the location is small and too many are there, I have found activity will be at a minimum if at all. That goes for "spectators" as well. This is where the client will come into play. We get more evidence when all that is present is the homeowners. So you know, if we go to an investigation and there is too much noise and too many people I'll either ask for them to leave or we will reschedule the investigation when there are only the homeowners. Lots of talking and noise corrupts any recordings. We have not been able to use some possible EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) recordings because of it. Whispering isn't a good thing either. Since the majority of EVPs are whispering it can again corrupt an actual EVP. If there is too many "spectators" or commotion I will request the homeowner to ask them to leave or we will reschedule an investigation at a later date. There is no use for us to try to capture evidence when all we get is adults/children talking. I must also mention, the investigation will be terminated if there is excess drinking of alcohol or drug use. I ADORE our fur kids but it's requested to have them away from the investigation site. Some of the digital recorders will pick up nothing but the barking or whining of dogs as if they're right next to the microphone even though they could be contained in a room many feet from the recorder, and again it corrupts any possible EVPs. Plus, I don't want to get bitten, and I don't want any of my investigators bitten either. After all we are strangers in THEIR homes and they're just protecting their territory and their families. This goes the same for cats. I set up my video camera in my living room and had nothing but my cat's face as he checked it out. I also had one investigation I had to be rescued because this territorial cat wouldn't let me out of the room and my other investigator couldn't do her job because of him. So the removal or containment of your fur kids would be so greatly appreciated. Another little tidbit. If all possible, smoking should be done away from the investigation site. Preferably outside. The reason for this is the haze from smoke can be seen on photos and again corrupts any video or photos we may get. Plus, many hauntings is based on smells and smoke can mask any smells. I have been in locations and smelt lilac or perfume and not finding any hidden air fresheners have been able to note the smell as part of the activity. Finally, we do use video equipment and recorders so I do ask be careful of tripods, cords, and any equipment laying around. We purchase our own equipment and to give you an idea a Sony with super nightshot plus costs at or over $500. So it would be most appreciated. That being said, and now you have some idea of what to expect, if you wish an investigation please click on the email link below and it would be MOST appreciated if you would include a brief summary of the activity and a phone number where I can reach you and I will be glad to call you back to set up a time and date. Also so you know, if you're not sure about having an actual investigation but would like to talk to someone about any activity email me with that also. I'm here, I understand, and I'll help however I can. Also, please be considerate and if an investigation is scheduled and you change your mind or whatever the reason, please PLEASE call me and let me know. Don't have to give a reason, just tell me it's been canceled. I have other investigators scheduled and some are out of town and I like to let them know. Plus, I don't want to be a pest just showing up on your doorstep if you don't want us there.
